I went to to presentation. they tricked you with the pricing, showing retail and their own fake number. that is the taboo vodu parts or magic tradegy of their company scam. then they ask to to join membership for ficking $3500 and pressuring you to join it. Watch out them bastards. been there and done that. Things you actually buy there is way too high and there are nothing like the pricing they throwing at you during presentation. Forgot to mention delivery cost is high too. Hope my stupidlity give you a head up or warning before heading to those scammers More...

  • Direct Buy and canceling experience

My husband and I received a call to come to a presentation of Direct Buy and promised we would get our choice of one of 5 prizes and a $100 dining gift card. We went to the presentation Saturday and signed up for membership. The presentation was heavy duty. After thinking it over and going through the numbers, we decided not to join. (We just finished remodeling our home last year and Direct Buy just didn't work for us.) I emailed them Saturday evening to let them know I wished to cancel and would be in on Tuesday to personally handle the cancelation. We walked in and were greeted... More...

If you want directbuy to leave you alone (I worked for them) you can't just say "I'm not interested." If you do that, your name will stay in the system and they will wait two weeks and then call you again, and they justify this by saying "oh, they aren't interested now, but they may be in the (very near) future!" You can yell and swear and belittle the person on the other end of the phone, and they will just say that you are NI, then wait a couple of weeks and go through it all over again. The ONLY way to get them to stop bothering you is by telling them... More...

I have been a member for more than 23 years. I joined in Rhode Island when I was fresh out of college and I have lived in Las Vegas for the last 20yrs. There have been instances where it was a hassle to deal with waiting for an item to arrive or a damaged item, but for the savings that was realized, the savings far out weighed the hassle. Any time you are hard core shopping for a sale or a bargain there is always an amount of time investment to do that research and always an amount of hassle that is endured. What I have valued with Direct Buy is that I purchase home furnishings like... More...

  • DirectBuy's lack of concern

During the Samsung Touchpad Promotion, we made a Sunday (Sept 23rd)appointment with DirectBuy on Wilshire in Albuquerque. We arrived to find the gates locked. We called the 6024144590 and were told our appt had been canceled because they didn’t get an answer on the second contact number. However, no one called our first contact number to confirm any of this. Not being notified of the cancelation we subsequently drove 40 miles (80m roundtrip) for nothing. We rescheduled for the following Tuesday (25th) and was notified Monday that we were canceled again because DirectBuy was not... More...

  • Direct Buy worked for us

I see all these negative posts, I suspect those that read this are going to think I am a DB employee. I am not. My wife and I joined when we bought a new house, and moved from an apt., so we had to basically furnish the whole house. It was expensive to join, but I wouldn't say they pressured us, and we certainly felt free to leave at any time during the sales pitch. We ended up saving thousands of dollars. Seriously. We have often said since that there is no way we would have been able to buy the nice furniture and appliances we did without DB. Don't get me wrong, it takes some... More...

  • Direct Buy Scam - Gurnee IL

This high pressure sales technique and the threats that if you leave you can NEVER come back should have been a RED FLAG. I have tried to buy a Dishwasher, a Computer Desk, and luggage thru the club and found their pricing is not only not a savings it is not even competitive. Add to that the restrictive delivery policies and installation and membership is of little or no value. Run Do not Walk AWAY from this sales pitch. Worse is that it is impossible to get in contact with anyone in authority. The contact information in thier membership materials and on line only leads to generic... More...

  • MAJOR SCAM!!!!

Let me start off with how bad they pressure you when you go in to find out what Direct Buy has to offer. After 2 hours of being held hostage, I finally gave in and joined. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!! So I figured since I signed up I would order my furniture from them. AGAIN, BIG MISTAKE!!! It took 10 weeks for my furniture to come in and when I went to pick it up there was a tear on the back of the couch. They said they could have someone fix it and that it would be like new. I said ok and then 3 WEEKS LATER I still had not heard from them regarding my couch. I called and they said... More...

  • Who Does This!!!

Every horrid review you are reading about direct buy is true and then some...I think the company is ran by the mafia or something. I mean not allowing a couple [before they buy] to think about a 4000.00 dollar purchase at least over night is completely nuts!!!! I mean what hard working family buys a 4000.00 item on a whim based on a 90 min presentation. And the "free gifts" for attending the presentaion is so misleading it should be illegal. The 100 dollar restaurant gift card was just coupons you have to spend at only a handful of restaurants and you have to purchase something... More...

  • BELIEVE THE WARNING SIGNS - RUN AWAY FROM THIS VENDOR

If I could give this vendor a --5 rating I would. Unfortunately the rating only goes to 1. My husband and I listened to the 90 minute strong-armed sales pitch and found it very distasteful (SIGN UP TODAY OR ELSE YOU ARE BARRED FROM BEING A DIRECT BUY MEMBER FOREVER), but when the franchise owner (by the way he SEEMS like a really nice guy..) ensured us we had 3 days to evaluate the value of the program and would be able to cancel without cost. We thought we would give it a try, so we signed up at a cost of more than $3400. Since we rehab homes, if what they represented was true we had an... More...

  • No savings, or service.

I purchased a DB membership, and I'm paying ($$$) for my mistake. On DB's 'OUR VISION' brochure, page 3, it reads, "You save because the DB Club system eliminates the hidden store markups and middlemen costs". This is false. A purchase from the club will include shipping and handling charges, and an additional Freight charge. Here is the "hidden store markup". I'm not talking about a minimal charge, but a markup so out of the ordinary so as to eliminate any of the cost savings. The freight charge is charged by the weight of what you buy. If you... More...

  • Wasted our day

We called them to request a review of the showroom. They informed us it would be an hour and half sales thing, and sent us a key for an opportunity to win a $50,000 home makeover. We used the one day pass, wasted our day(far more than 1 1/2 hours). I even had to let my 18 month old play in their filthy, nasty play area full of broken, dirty toys, because he was bored and did not understand why I would not let him in with the toys (Trust me I cleaned him from head to toe as soon as we left). Oh, and the changing table in the bathroom was just as bad if not worse than the play area. Anyhow,... More...

  • Direct Lie

Direct buy is a company built on misleading customers into a pressure sales situation. They claim that they give you "manufacturer" prices from top companies. I work directly with some of their vendors such as Shaw, Mohawk, Whirlpool, Electrolux, and several others. They aren't giving you "manufacturer" pricing, that term actually has no meaning. They aren't even giving you vendor pricing, I know because I get vendor pricing on several of their products. I went to the "open house" to see what they were going to offer. They give you a great sales pitch... More...

My husband and I are planning to remodel our home in about two years. Direct buy offered us their visitors pass and we gladly accepted so that we could learn about their services and great rates for tremendous savings on our extensive home improvements. Upon arriving we explained our plans and they continued through their videos and infrormation. Before leaving a sales rep sat down with us and informed us that it was time to set up our membership. This is when we found out that the actual visitors pass is for you to get membership or you are not allowed to ever return for seven years. Wow!... More...

  • DirectBuy

We bought a whirlpool washer duet and it was a special, free shipping. Unbenounced to us they shipped it to DirectBuy. We don't have a pickup so they want to charge us $75 an hour to deliver it to us which we were under the impression it was coming to our door. In trying to resolve this we call, leave messages and they don't return our calls. You very seldom get a person. Very disappointed in DirectBuy, would not recommend it to anyone even large consumers. If you shop internet you can find great deals and delivered to your door without the hassle More...

Thank God I checked this site. Almost got suckered in for a free tablet. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

I am a Direct Buy member and had my kitchen remodeled, they did a good job, however could have had the same done elsewhere, minus the membership fee. I recently ordered a queen size p,at form bed online to replace the same size bed. I didn't realize a platform bed would be substantially larger. I tried to return it the next day to discover they wouldn't take it back. I was told to try to consign or sell it myself ( the bed costed $1300.00). We all know I won't even get close to what I spent for it. What kind of customer service is this, especially considering the amount of money I already spent with them?? If you are considering membership with this company, please reconsider! Will I ever recommend them to anyone, absolutely NOT!

I am a member and had my kitchen remodeled. They did a good job, but could have gotten the same elsewhere, minus the membership fee. I recently ordered a queen sized platform bed online from Direct Buy for my son's birthday gift. It was replacing a queen sized bed, little did I realize, the new one would be way to big for his room, I called them and wanted to return it the next day. Ten days later after many unanswered calls, I just got a message saying so sorry, it is yours to keep, maybe you can consign it or sell it to someone!!! How do you do business like this?? Will I ever recommend them to anyone else? Not a chance! As a matter of fact, if you haven' t joined and are considering it, DON'T DO IT!! Horrible customer service, especially considering I spent $50,000.00 cash doing my remodel.

I used to believe in your concept but your local store NW Arkansas ripped us off by taking our money and not ordering merchandise than closing the store - they had helpful employees but the owners could not be trusted

We have been members of Direct Buy for three years now and our impression has severely soured. First in St Louis the store and staff were great and we saved as we constructed a large home addition. We saved mostly on kitchen cabinets. However we recently moved to New Orleans and this store is atrocious. We have not seen the anticipated savings as we have redone our new home. Directbuy claims to have access to high end items and even brags about saving the most money on these items, but when looking for high end electronics and even some appliances from national brands/dealers- directbuy repeatedly said that the dealer won't allow directbuy to sell the products. In researching other web sites we found better prices with free delivery, no service charge, no hassle returns, and delivered in a few days. Considering directbuy charges an 8% service fee, takes 4-6 average delivery, and doesn't allow returns- the choice of not renewing our membership was easy. As if this wasn't enough, when directbuy ordered the wrong cabinets they tried to blame us and it took 8 weeks of talking to rude management locally and unhelpful national office staff to get the issue resolved- not to mention the additional 6 weeks or building the correct cabinets. They also refused to refund the "service fee" or offer any other compensation for their mistake. I would strongly recommend against Directbuy- especially the New Orleans branch- as there are better deals on line with other vendors.

I joined in 2007 and when I was ready to
make major purchases, I found that the showroom had closed and the nearest one was 30 miles away. I drove to Long Beach as was informed that I could not bring my elderly mother into the show room. I paid cash for my membership....I AM SO UPSET! I could had made my purchases
at Lowes or Homedepot.

We made the mistake of buying a membership. The sales talk was very convincing then the pressure was on, you had to join that very day or you could never come back. You aren't allowed to look at the catalogs until you become a member. We should have ran and never looked back. We only made one purchase and after they added the sales tax, handling charge and delivery fee to the store (you have to pick everything up at the store, nothing can be delivered to your house) it was no deal at all!!!!! Our membership will expire this year and we never made another purchase. Every time we shopped for anything we would check with Directbuy first and we would get angry every time. There is no good deal. We are out our $4000. Please don't do it!

Warning! they do not mention that you must accept their membership the day of your visit.. cheapest plan 350 downpayment and 150 montly payment for the first two years, or you must forfeit ever receiving any membership with them for seven years. Be sure that you know that you are not going to get information about what they have to offer but have to accept membership that day. In other words DO NOT GO until you are actually ready to start purchasing. Even when we mentioned our plans for the future they did not inform us of their policy. now we must become a member or settle for paying retail mrkups even though our plans are for two years away.
